Why Provide A Day of Service?
As a Community Development Corporation, our goal is to have a lasting impact. Our participants typically plan several single-service days throughout the year at various organizations. This provides them with the opportunity to gain a breadth of experience and acquire valuable insights into different areas of service. We believe that by exposing youth to a diverse selection of service activities, we can cultivate a generation of civic-minded leaders who understand the value of giving back, working together, and building stronger communities. Through hands-on experiences at local nonprofits, our participants gain practical skills, broaden their perspectives, and begin to see themselves as active contributors to positive change. Each service opportunity plants a seed - not just of community impact, but of personal growth, leadership, and lifelong commitment to service.
EA empowers students to become active changemakers and to strengthen community partnerships by creating opportunities for youth to serve with purpose, empathy, and leadership. Participants can volunteer with any charity or nonprofit organization of their choice. Students can choose to volunteer individually or in groups. Once the organization is chosen, students simply need to communicate their choice to EA's Outreach Director, and she will provide whatever support is needed to ensure a successful volunteer effort. This program has proven to be highly successful, and many community agencies have benefited from receiving volunteer support that they would otherwise not have had access to. Additionally, all of our students are rewarded for participating.
Empowerment Academy Inc. proudly supports the Empower the Community through Seeds of Service initiative, where students give back by volunteering at local nonprofits across their communities.
This isn’t just about one day of action. It’s about planting seeds of compassion, leadership, and social responsibility that grow for years to come.
This youth-led volunteer movement was created to connect students with meaningful service opportunities at nonprofits in their own communities. Additionally, it provides students with valuable experience that can benefit them in future jobs. Moreover, it gives them the chance to earn volunteer hours that will help them when it is time to apply to colleges and for scholarships.
